A Warm Welcome to One Folkestone – a platform for community voice and community action in our community. The information in this short section is an introduction to the thinking – and how to get involved if you want to.
It’s early days – and it will take a little time to set out the full picture of what we are hoping to achieve.
A first outline of the vision and the key elements – as shown below – was put to an initial community group meeting in January 2025 and the basic concept was given a very warm reception.
Since then, work has focused on getting a structured approach to the big issues for the next 5-20 years, using much of the work done by others to imagine a better future.
We discussed progress at a community event earlier this month (November 2025) and got a good sense of support for a more joined up approach to working in the local community for common good.
Next year, we have a programme planned of events for each of the six main themes, building up the understanding of One Folkestone and helping to shape the agenda with input from everyone.
What happens after that is up to everyone and anyone who wishes to support the concept of a new strategic partnership for Folkestone – One Folkestone.

Using existing research & plans
We do not want to reinvent the wheel, but we want to look at it in the round!
We are using a number of pieces of work and the latest available data – for example the Indicators of Multiple Deprivation – for our community to develop the One Folkestone agenda in discussion with local people. While these indicators may look very worrying, there is a lot we have going which is positive. Our planning should map out the best of Folkestone as well as what needs doing to improve Folkestone.
Most important of all, it should set out how local people stand to benefit from the present and the future in our town.
