Community Power
In case you wondered what is going on, One Folkestone is slowly developing although it is still very low visibility.
The reason for this is simple; we are a small team (part of the Sunflower House team) working on the day job which is running our three venues and a wide range of community programmes.
Signs of progress can be seen in growing recognition of the values and principles behind One Folkestone:
- Folkestone and Hythe District Council have passed a resolution to support community partnership.
The debate specifically referenced the One Folkestone concept.
You can find a link here (Item 62 on the minutes) - During 2026, One Folkestone will co-sponsor a series of Health and Wellbeing events with FHDC
- Joint 1F/FHDC seminars are being planned to explore each of the six One Folkestone regeneration themes
- The Community Building Network is a set of spaces committed to partnership and empowering local people.
There are now 8 places and spaces which keep in touch on projects, mutual support and common interest.
This is practical evidence of One Folkestone at work! - We hope to issue our first newsletter early in the New Year – thank you to everyone who has signed up.
In the meantime, you may find this report from social capacity lobby group Locality worth a read.
